Privacy policy.

Plain-language version, then the legal version. We take privacy seriously and have tried to write this without burying anything in jargon.

1. Who we are

Swifli is operated by Swifli Technologies Inc., an Ontario-incorporated company headquartered in the GTA, Ontario. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Contact: privacy@swifli.co.

2. What we collect

From residents

  • Name, email, mobile number, and home address (used to match bookings within a service radius).
  • Payment instrument details, tokenized and stored by our payment processor; Swifli does not store full card numbers.
  • Booking history, ratings, messages, and any photos uploaded during a booking.

From service providers

  • Identity verification data (government ID image, selfie verification, address).
  • Background check results returned by our third-party screening provider.
  • Insurance policy information, credential licenses (where applicable), and references.
  • Service area, availability, rates, ratings, payout banking information.

From property managers

  • Business contact information, property addresses managed, referral code activity, revenue-share statement data.

Automatically

  • Device identifiers, IP address (used to detect fraud), app interaction logs, and crash reports.

3. How we use it

We use personal information to: operate and match the marketplace, run the verification gates described in our Trust & Safety policy, process payments and payouts, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve the platform.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Privacy-by-design defaults

  • Providers see neighbourhood, not full address, until the resident confirms the booking.
  • Phone numbers are masked through Swifli for the duration of a booking, calls and texts route through Swifli's number masking service.
  • Identity documents are stored separately from operational data, with stricter access controls and shorter retention.
  • Messages in-platform only; no SMS handoff that escapes the audit log.

5. Retention

We retain booking records for seven years for tax, legal, and dispute purposes. Verification documents are retained for two years after a provider's account is closed. You can request earlier deletion subject to legal retention requirements.

6. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy law, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements), and withdraw consent for non-essential processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@swifli.co. We respond within 30 days.

7. Cross-border data

Some of our infrastructure providers are based in the United States. Where personal information leaves Canada, we use contractual safeguards consistent with PIPEDA guidance to maintain equivalent protection.

8. Children

Swifli is not directed to children under 16. The childcare category is operated between adult residents and adult providers; minors are the subject of care, not platform users.

9. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we change practices materially. We'll notify you in-app and by email when we do. The current version date is shown at the top of the page.

10. Complaints

If you believe we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first at privacy@swifli.co. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
